Spider's Night on the Boom: And Other Fiascos
Published in Paperback by Writers Club Press/iUniverse.com (January, 2001)
Author: Gary E. Anderson
Average review score:

A heartwarming book to read to your kids!
If you are looking for a book that can bring your family together, this is the one. I was reading this book alone and laughing out loud when my daughter came over and asked, "What's so funny?" I started reading to her, through my tears of laughter, and soon we were both laughing. Eventually, I read the entire book to her aloud.

How many books can get an 8 year old to turn off the television? Not many. Mr Anderson combines wit and humor, with good old-fashioned family values. These stories from the heartland convey love and friendship, innocence and wonder.

You will not be disappointed with this read!

A delightful read, full of humor and inspiration.
Gary E. Anderson's collection of 49 "bite-size" short stories contains a little of everything. There are some very funny tales of his childhood and teenage years, some humorous recollections of his many years as a single father, raising two kids by himself, and some stories that are very touching and inspirational, as well.

There are so many wonderful and funny moments in this book, it's hard to pick out my favorites. The title story, "Spider's Night on the Boom," about a group of young men, fishing off a log boom, is full of delightful images and funny situations. And if I had to choose my favorite "warm and fuzzy" piece, I'd have to choose "Somebody Else's Dark," about his young daughter, unable to fall asleep in a strange house.

Anderson has a grasp on family values that's rare in literature today. Many of the stories in the book were first published in his "Wit and Wisdom" column in Iowa's largest-circulation rural monthly, Iowa REC News. "Spider's Night on the Boom" contains a liberal helping of both, offering some of the funniest wit and the most touching wisdom you'll find anywhere.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who ever was a kid, anyone who ever was a parent, anyone needing a laugh, or anyone looking to find inspiration. It's all here, told in Anderson's unique style.

Spiritual Protection for Your Children: Helping Your Children and Family Find Their Identity, Freedom and Security in Christ
Published in Hardcover by Regal Books (November, 1996)
Authors: Neil T. Anderson, Pete Vander Hook, Sue Vander Hook, and Pete Vander Hook

Is your child afraid of the dark?
My child would wake up scared at night and say there was someone in his room. I explained there was nothing in the room and that it was just his imagination. After reading Spiritual Protection For Your Children, I realized that my child could really be seeing something. Satan is attacking our children and it is very real. This book gave me the tools to use during our spiritual battles. My son sleeps through the night now with no problem. This is a must read book for every Christian parent. The spiritual world is real and we need to have the right weapons and teach our children.

A must for every Christian parent.
This book brings to light to reality of Satan and his attacks on our homes and children. However, we need not fear - light (Christ) always overcomes darkness (evil). We can teach our children how to protect themselves with God's Word.

Sports Injury Management

an excellent resource and/or text for athletic trainers
I have used many sports medicine books, including Arnheim and Booher, and this is the book that I continue to use the most. Includes thorough etiologies, pathologies, signs and symptoms along with management skills that every athletic trainer needs. Great illustrations and photographs. My copy is literally held together with trainer's tape because I and my students use it so much. There is an excellent study guide that accompanies this book and it would be great if Amazon could offer it. The ISBN number is 0-683-00176-0 if that helps anyone.

Very well organized; great anatomy illustrations.
Years ago when I took my first athletic training course, I used Arnheim's book. It was all I had known until this book was published. I am currntly teaching an introductory athletic training class and am using this text book. I feel this book is much better organized and does a better job in the injury and rehabilitation explanations. It also makes very good use of anatomy illustrations, tables and figures. I would recommend this book over Arnheim in a heart beat.

From the Critics
Reviewer from Romance Fiction Guide--
As I turned the last page of Storm Dancer, my face was soaked with tears. This has to be the most amazing tale of love that I have ever read. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. It's a story that pulls you in and takes you through a love story so strong that it withstands the tests of time. This book has it all, true love, murder, revenge, the issues and love of family including the redemption and healing that can be found when one just looks for the truth. I highly recommend this book as a must read! I've only said this about one other book that I've reviewed but personally, I can't wait to see it made into a movie. I can see why Mr. Anderson has won so many awards and even an Emmy for his writing after reading Storm Dancers.

A THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE READ!
Storm Dancers is a thoroughly enjoyable read--a definite page-turner! Enormously entertaining and uplifting. I wept at the end, not only in response to the poignancy and joy of it, but for the sheer satisfaction of having devoured a wonderful literary meal! Will there be a sequel?

Sunflower Sal
Published in School & Library Binding by Albert Whitman & Co (September, 1997)
Authors: Janet S. Anderson and Elizabeth Johns
Average review score:

Warm and wonderful, Sal teaches self-acceptance
The author has created an endearing character who has real-life concerns of size and self-acceptance. The book is about sunflowers and families, but it is really a tool to help children appreciate their own unique abilities and perspectives. Sunflower Sal is an unpretentious child who loves her family, her life and the large sunflowers she plants yearly. She learns to love her size, as well. By accepting that some things come naturally to her, she gives up her struggle and "thinks big". Her contribution is heart warming, and very like Sal herself.

Assisted by her family, Sal finds her "gift" by thinking big
Sal is a big girl in search of her special talents. She admires her grandmother's quilting abilities and tries to quilt herself, but is dissatisfied with the results. With supportive encouragement from her family, Sal pursues her gift of planting sunflower seeds, and is beautifully rewarded at harvest time. A great book to promote positive self-esteem (especially in girls). Warm, lovely illustrations.

The best animal book ever written
As a Vet. I would highly recommend this book. It has certainly helped me in my practise.

The one book that can keep your pet from the vet.
The information in this book really works. My dog is totally healthy and I know many of my friends who are using the recommended methods to either heal their pets or keep them healthy. It's probably the only book out there on preventive medicine for our animal family members.

The best way to help your furry friends
A friend of mine recommended this book to me because I have ayear and a half old cocker spaniel named Lily that suffered from emotional distress when ever I left her alone. She would whine and cry until I would go back into the house and take her with me. She couldn't be left alone for 5 minutes. Now that I have this book and used it's natural remedies Lily is fine. I purchased a second copy for my sister because her dog suffered from seizures. She was tired of treating him with pills that altered his behavior and made his hair fall out while he continued to suffer through the seizures. Thanks to this book he is healthy and no longer suffers from seizures. He is like a new dog. I recommend this book to everyone that truly loves their animals.

Great news for Fido and Fluffy
I have a dog and several cats and was always plagued by fleas. I didn't want to use chemical treatments and a friend told me about this book. The natural approach worked and so far this year we all are flea-free. It also gave me lots of good information on things in my house and yard that can make my animals sick. I will never again let my dog, chomp on the Xmas tree. Anyone who owns a dog or cat will need this book. The information given can keep our animals healthy so we can forget about vet bills for non-emergency illnesses since they won't get sick in the first place. I'm glad the authors wrote a book about illness prevention to complement all those books that tell us what to do after their pet gets sick.
